In recent leaks, many tipsters have mentioned that this year, Apple is not going to introduce the iPhone 18 Pro in the Black color. Now the report confirms it and further claims there would be four iconic colors. According to a new report from Macworld, Apple is testing a bold new signature color for the iPhone 18 Pro series called Dark Cherry – a deep, wine-inspired red that could replace the brighter tones seen in recent years.
Unlike the more vibrant finishes like Cosmic Orange on the iPhone 17 Pro, this new shade is said to be much more refined and muted. It leans closer to a premium wine color rather than a flashy red, suggesting Apple is once again moving toward a more sophisticated, luxury-focused aesthetic for its Pro lineup.
The report also backs earlier claims from Mark Gurman, who previously hinted that Apple had been experimenting with red finishes for future iPhones. However, Dark Cherry appears to be a more polished evolution of that idea rather than a bold statement color.
Four colors in testing

Apple is said to be working on four color options for the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max:
- Light Blue
- Dark Cherry
- Dark Gray
- Silver
The tipster further mentions that these colors are not final and Apple could make some changes in the final version. Also, there is no solid evidence on the discontinuation of Black color, so users still have some hope to see their favorite colors in stock.
Design Changes for iPhone 18 Pro
Beyond colors, Apple is also expected to change the design of the iPhone 18 Pro. CAD drawings seen by the source suggest a smaller Dynamic Island, which would slightly increase usable screen space.
There are also hints of a tighter integration between the rear glass and camera bump. Apple to use variable aperture on the camera lens to boost its low-light performance and sharp details.
Launch timeline
The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, along with the first iPhone Ultra, are expected to launch in September 2026, following Apple’s usual release cycle. Furthermore, Apple for the first may not launch its regular iPhone 18 at the next Apple event, but it will be introduced in the first half of 2027 along with iPhone Air 2.
